Angers SCO Seeking Striker Reinforcement in January Transfer Window
Ligue 1 side Angers SCO is actively pursuing a new centre-forward to strengthen their attacking options during the upcoming January transfer window. The club, currently sitting in 14th place in the French top flight, is looking to address their goalscoring challenges, having netted just 16 times this season – a tally surpassing only Montpellier, Le Havre, and Saint-Etienne.
Following a crucial victory over Champions League participants Stade Brestois 29, Angers’ management has intensified their search for a prolific striker. Reports suggest that the club has expressed interest in Lille’s Mohamed Bayo, a 26-year-old Guinean international who has found playing time limited under coach Bruno Genesio. However, Bayo’s wage demands could potentially pose an obstacle to any deal.
Another name linked with a move to Angers is Steve Mounié, the 30-year-old Beninese striker currently plying his trade with Bundesliga outfit Augsburg. Mounié, who previously featured for Brest in Ligue 1, is reportedly being considered for a loan move. His experience in French football could prove valuable to Angers’ campaign to avoid relegation.
As the transfer window approaches, Angers SCO is also expected to trim their squad, potentially making room for new arrivals. The club’s management is working diligently to identify the right reinforcements to bolster their attacking prowess and secure their position in Ligue 1 for the remainder of the season.
