Palladino: Napoli Exploited Fiorentina’s Mistakes in 3-0 Defeat
Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino offered his thoughts after his side suffered a heavy 3-0 home defeat to Napoli. The coach defended his tactical approach but admitted Napoli were more clinical and capitalized on Fiorentina’s mistakes.
The loss continues a poor run of form for Fiorentina, who have now taken just one point from their last four Serie A matches. Napoli dominated the game with goals from David Neres, Romelu Lukaku, and Scott McTominay.
Palladino acknowledged Napoli deserved the win, stating: “I want to congratulate Napoli, who earned the victory and showed far greater efficiency in front of goal. They punished us for every small error we made.”
The Fiorentina boss felt his team started well but was undone by costly mistakes: “We had a good initial approach against a quality opponent. We created problems for Napoli in the first half, but they took control in the middle part of the match. Unfortunately, some errors proved very expensive.”
Palladino defended his decision to switch to a back three formation, explaining: “We altered our shape to match up against Napoli’s system. I thought we performed well for long stretches despite the result.”
Looking ahead, the coach remains optimistic: “These games can help us grow and mature. We have many young players who are still learning. We’ll analyze the details, understand what we’re capable of, and each give something extra going forward.”
While disappointed with the heavy scoreline, Palladino believes his team can bounce back: “It’s difficult to accept losing 3-0 given our overall performance. The players deserved at least a goal. We need to wipe the slate clean and focus on the next match.”
