RB Leipzig Secures Wolfsburg Defender Ridle Baku in €4.5 Million Deal
RB Leipzig has officially announced the signing of right-back Ridle Baku from VfL Wolfsburg. The 26-year-old German defender has committed to a contract that will keep him with the Red Bulls until the summer of 2027.
According to Transfermarkt, Leipzig paid Wolfsburg a transfer fee of €4.5 million for Baku’s services. The move represents a significant addition to Leipzig’s defensive lineup.
Baku expressed his enthusiasm for joining the club, stating, “RB Leipzig is a major club with enormous potential and ambitious goals. They regularly compete in the Champions League. This club suits my style of play perfectly. I couldn’t pass up such an opportunity. I’m eager to meet my new teammates, including Xaver Schlager, with whom I’ve played before, and start working with them.”
In the current season, Baku has demonstrated his value on the pitch, contributing 2 goals and 3 assists in 18 appearances for Wolfsburg across all competitions. His versatility and attacking prowess from the right-back position make him a valuable asset for Leipzig’s squad.
This transfer marks another strategic move for RB Leipzig as they continue to strengthen their team for domestic and European competitions.
